Pink & Aqua Girl’s Bedroom Makeover

Earlier this year we decided it was time Miss Charlie’s bedroom had a makeover. Previously the walls were painted light green and while the colour was lovely, it was difficult to change the décor & bedlinen and still have it suit the wall colour.

Charlie decided that she would like a pink and aqua bedroom so we painted the walls a very pale pink which would be easy to match other colours to later, if she wanted to change from aqua.

My one splurge for the room is the gorgeous bedlinen and curtains from Pottery Barn Kids. Almost everything else came from Kmart (so much love for Kmart in this house!!) or was a craft project.One of my favourite things in the room is the wool wall hanging I made, it hangs on the wall opposite the bed under a shelf that holds some of Charlie’s special treasures like her jewellery box and a teddy she received when she was born. This was a super simple project that used a couple of balls of wool from The Reject Shop, a bunch of fake flowers from K-Mart and a piece of round dowel I found in our garage. I later added the cute little pink bird which is from a set I found on clearance at Bed Bath & Table after Easter.

I used a second bunch of the same fake flowers to make the floral initial wreath that hangs over the chest of drawers. The suitcases are used to store beanies & scarfs and hair accessories.

The tassel garland that hangs across the wall over the bed is made from two Kmart garlands joined together. The aqua tassels were originally white but I found the garland did not pop enough against the pale wall, so I dyed the white tassels using Tumble Dye in Aqua. I wasn’t entirely sure dyeing would work but they came out the perfect colour in the end!
The wall beside the bed has two shelves from Kmart which happened to be the exact right colour with lots of pretty little things displayed, these get rearranged often with different toys and photos.
